Integrative/Relational Psychotherapy Two- Year Training Course

2-Year Training Course : October 2011 to June 2013
Rome, Italy

This 2-year professional training course is for advanced psychotherapists and counselors. The course will focus on the theory and clinical practice of a Relationally focused Integrative Psychotherapy. It will consist of 8 group meetings during the two years. Two 4-day seminars will be with Dr. Richard Erskine who will teach advanced theoretical concepts and methods and engage the group members in discussions of therapeutic practice. Six two-day seminars (3 each year) will be with Dr Elena Guarrella who will lead collegial discussions of theory, methods, clinical topics, and selected readings. We will teach a Relational/Integrative model of psychotherapy that focuses on affective, cognitive, behavioral and physiological therapeutic approaches. Various methods of working within a therapeutic relationship will be taught and demonstrated. An emphasis will be placed on applying psychological theory in therapeutic practice, refining clinical skills, the centrality of relationship, the intersubjective use of countertransference, client’s relational-needs, and treatment planning.

This course may be followed by a training course of specialization and leads to International Integrative Psychotherapy Association (IIPA) certification
