Compliance, Internal Criticism, and Withdrawal: Psychotherapy of the Schizoid Process

Richard G. Erskine, PhD.
Sponsored by BIOS Psicólogos y recursos: Bilbao, Spain

Five-Day Training Course: Saturday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 11, 2012
Bilbao, Spain

Compliance, Internal Criticism, Psychological Fragmentation, and Withdrawal are each aspects of the Schizoid Process. These psychodynamics are reflected in the lives of many people seeking psychotherapy who present with symptoms of depression, relational difficulties, and/or social anxiety. Through lecture, discussion, and case presentation this workshop will focus on four different levels of psychological splitting and how to treat the psychological fragmentation that results. Various methods and styles of intervention specifically designed to treat the attachment patterns of the social self, the frightened vulnerable self, the internal saboteur, and the encapsulated self will be taught and discussed. This workshop will build on the theoretical foundation of the British object relation theorists (Fairbairn, Ferenczi, Guntrip, Kuhn, and Bowbly) while emphasizing a Relational and Integrative psychotherapy perspective.

This workshop will be in Spanish and English with professional simultaneous translation. The workshop will be held in a residential setting near Bilbao.
